You dont say what your location is so I dont know what kind of hints to give you. If you are in the United States you can start where ever you think they had homes. Go to those local libraries for local history books, newspapers, church and cemetery listings, etc. Go to the courthouse in your local county and check marriage records. Some counties will let you see birth and death records and some wont. You can check out land deeds, estate wills, probated wills, land grants, taxes etc all that information is open. If you still dont know where to start or hit a block email me at bgmsanders@aol.com and I will see if I can help. Barbara
First of all I am very new at this so please hang in there with me! I am looking for any children of my grandfather's brother. His name was Jean Baptiste Robinson. He was last heard of in the early 1900s.....1914. He moved to EmbrunRussell area and then he could have gone up towards the Niagara region with his family. I know him and his wife had children because they (children) were baptised at the Catholic Church in Embrun, Ontario. Any help location their last location (where they are burried) would be greatly appriciated. Many thanks.
After importing a GEDCOM, no relationships are showing. The import was fine, but for example, my father and mother, when you right click and select Relationship, say they are not related. Is there a way to correct this?
Try downloading Family Tree Builder here and importing the gedcom into it. Do the relationships show now? If yes, you can either publish the tree to your family site or upload a gedcom directly to the site.
I'm a new member...just created my site last night. When I went through to see a list of the new members my name is not in there. Do you have to have a picture to be listed?
Also...I invited my step-mother to view my site. She has not visited it yet but...on her profile as a member it shows a man's picture. Does she have to correct this or can I? I have her listed in my family tree with the correct generic picture.
