Borchardt-Pincus-Peiser Family Website

Bienvenido al sitio Borchardt-Pincus-Peiser Family Website

My name is François Edouard Cellier and I started this site.  I am maintaining this webseite together with Uri Shani from Israel.  It is designed as a resource for and by the Borchardt family with Jewish roots and their descendants. The family had its roots in Köslin (Pomerania), where Baruch ben Lipmann and his wife Edel Yomtob settled shortly before the year 1700.  We believe that all Jewish Borchardt alive today are descendants of this one couple. In order to be allowed to settle in Köslin, Baruch needed a "Schutzbrief" (letter of protection), and in order to receive such a letter, Baruch had to provide a "First name" and a "Family name."  He chose names that he was familiar with and called himself henceforth Borchardt Philipp when dealing with the local authorities. All of his (many) sons followed the same pattern, and thus, Meschullam ben Baruch became Salomon Borchardt, whereas Chaim ben Baruch referred to himself as Joachim Borchardt, etc.  In this way, Borchardt became (also) a Jewish family name.  Due to the holocaust, the Borchardt family has been dispersed over the entire planet, and many lost contact even with very close relatives of theirs.  It is the primary aim of this website to bring families together again; to mend what has been broken.  If you have any comments or feedback about this site, please click aquí to contact me.¡Nuestro árbol genealógico esta publicado en línea en este sitio!
