These four volumes comprise transcripts in English of Inquisitions Post Mortem - surveys of land and property after the death of a tenant-in-chief before transfer to the next heir.<br><br> They cover various parts of Yorkshire during the period 1241-1306. The transcripts give a wealth of detail about life under the feudal system with details of knightly families and in some cases, names of peasants living and working on their land. Each volume has an index of names and places. A useful resource for medieval genealogy.
